More Grade 1 Winners than any other Store sale Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, held in partnership with MSL Mercedes-Benz is recognised as the Ireland’s Premier Store Sale, and is renowned for being the leading source of Grade 1 winners. To maintain that long held view, the emphasis when selecting our stores is on quality. As a select sale, our inspectors handpick the best individuals with pedigrees to match, resulting in a catalogue that makes it distinctive from other Store sale catalogues. Since it’s inception in 1974, the Derby Sale has produced the top priced Store sold anywhere, while regularly producing the highest average and median. 2026 Derby Sale Catalogue The catalogue for the Derby Sale features Stores from some of National Hunt racing’s leading families. The offspring of five Grade 1 winning mares feature, while the progeny of 13 Grade 1 performing mares are included. A large number of siblings to Grade 1 winners are catalogued, among them, siblings to Brighterdaysahead, Old Park Star, Latest Exhibition, Eachtotheirown and Koktail Divin. 420 horses are catalogued across the opening two days, while 216 will feature in Part II. The two-year-old section was reintroduced last year, and sees 21 lots catalogued at the end of the opening day. Graduates Dominate Dublin Racing Festival The 2025/2026 National Hunt season has seen outstanding performances from Derby Sale graduates. The top level races at the Dublin Racing Festival saw Grade 1 winning performances from Brighterdaysahead, Romeo Coolio and Doctor Steinberg. Jonbon has been a terrific flagbearer for the Derby Sale, and he notched up a 12th career Grade 1 in the Ascot Chase. Elsewhere, Grade 1 winning novice hurdlers Kopek Des Bordes and Final Demand filled the runner-up spot in their respective races at the Cheltenham Festival. And within the bumper sphere, The Irish Avatar, Soul Asylum and Outofafrika are just three promising graduates that look capable of scaling greater heights over the coming seasons. Success Between The Flags The first half of the 2026 Spring point-to-point season saw some high-class performances from four-year-old graduates. Monster Truck and Palinca made impressive debuts and were sold just days later for £530,000 and £400,000 respectively at the Cheltenham Festival Sale. Monzon Sport provided Jet Bloodstock with their first four-year-old winner since launching their new venture, and this €67,000 purchase was sold for £400,000 at the Cheltenham Festival Sale after winning on his first start. Other graduates to note from the point-to-point field this spring include Wordfromhome, Ferocimo, Mifa D’Airy and Walkonseas. The four mentioned posted winning debuts and it is likely the quartet will make their mark on the racecourse over the coming seasons. Tattersalls Ireland MSL Mercedes-Benz Sales Bumper All horses catalogued and offered at the 2026 Derby Sale are eligible for the Tattersalls Ireland MSL Mercedes-Benz Sales Bumper, which will be run at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival on December 28th 2027. The vendor of the winning horse will drive away in a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLC. The MSL Mercedes-Benz Sales Bumper also allows three-year-olds sold 18 months earlier as two-year-olds at the Derby Sale the opportunity to participate. Tom Malone on the Derby Sale
