2025 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale

Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, held in partnership with MSL Mercedes-Benz is recognised as the Ireland’s Premier Store Sale, and is renowned for being the leading source of Grade 1 winners. To maintain that long held view, the emphasis when selecting our stores is on quality. As a select sale, our inspectors handpick the best individuals with pedigrees to match, resulting in a catalogue that distinguishes it from other Store sales. Since it’s inception in 1974, the Derby Sale has produced the top priced Store sold anywhere, while regularly producing the highest average and median. This year’s Derby Sale will feature 449 lots, with an additional 201 catalogued in Part II of the sale. One of the most anticipated developments is the reintroduction of the two-year-old section, with 31 two-year-olds featuring at the end of day one. The spring festivals at the Dublin Racing Festival, Cheltenham and Aintree saw Derby Sale graduates dominate and all three festivals saw more Grade 1 winning graduates succeed than any other Store sale. The 2024/25 National Hunt season produced memorable performances from graduates, with the progression of Kopek Des Bordes and Final Demand one of the highlights. Jonbon added three more Grade 1s, while Brighterdaysahead won back-to-back Grade 1s in the first half of the season. All horses catalogued and offered at the 2025 Derby Sale are eligible for the Tattersalls Ireland MSL Mercedes-Benz Bumper, which will be run at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival on December 28th 2026. The vendor of the winning horse will drive away in a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLC. For the first time, three-year-olds sold 18 months earlier as two-year-olds at the Derby Sale will have the opportunity to participate in an Irish bumper.
